A WORLD OF JOY

<a href="http://media.photobucket.com/image/st%20michael%20the" archangel="" holymusic55="" jesus="" passion="" crucifixion="" stmichaelcrucifix.jpg?o="39" target="_blank">

God, help my thoughts! They stray from me, setting off on the wildest journeys My thoughts can cross an ocean with a single leap; they can fly from earth to heaven, and back again in a single second. They come to me for a fleeting moment, and then away they flee. No chains, no locks can hold them back; no threats of punishment can restrain them, no hiss of a lash can frighten them. They slip from my grasp like tails of eels, they swoop hither and thither like swallows in flight. Dear God, who can see into every heart and read every mind, take hold of my thoughts. Bring my thoughts back to me and clasp me to yourself. I fully belong to you.

It cannot be denied, the mold of a man's fortune is in his own hands. And the most frequent of external causes is, that the folly of one man, is the fortune of another. For no man prospers so suddenly, as by others' errors. The wheels of his mind keep way with the wheels of his fortune. If a man looks sharply and attentively, he shall see fortune. To live with a present conviction is to attain a life's destiny. Click here to make a difference.Show to the world that we become what we
believe.

To: You
Date: Today
From: The BOSS
Subject: Yourself
Reference: LIFE

I am God. Today I will be handling all of your problems.
Please Remember that I do not need your help.

If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do not attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in the SFGTD (something for God to do) box. All situations will be resolved, but in My time, not yours.

Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it by worrying about it. Instead, focus on the wonderful things that are present in your life now.

If you find yourself stuck in traffic; don’t despair. There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege.

Should you have a bad day at work; think of the man who has been out of work for years.

Should you grieve the passing of another weekend; think of the woman in dire straits, working twelve hours a day, seven days a week to feed her children.

Should your car break down, leaving you miles away from assistance; think of the paraplegic who would love the opportunity to take that walk.

Should you despair over a relationship gone bad; think of the person who has never known what it’s like to love and be loved in return.

Should you find yourself at a loss and pondering what is life all about, asking what is my purpose? Be thankful. There are those who didn’t live long enough to get the opportunity.

Should you find yourself the victim of other people’s bitterness, ignorance, smallness or insecurities; remember, things could be worse. You could be one of them!

Should you notice a new gray hair in the mirror; think of the cancer patient in chemo who wishes she had hair to examine.

A Determined Spirit

(Author Unknown)

Once upon a time, a small bird named Tasoo lived in a vast jungle. One hot summer day, a terrible wildfire erupted and the flames devoured many trees and animals living in the jungle. Other birds flew high into the sky and far away to safety, but Tasoo couldn't bear to leave her precious jungle home to burn. Day and night, she flew with all her might back and forth to the river, filling her tiny beak with water to drop on the raging fires. Tasoo's rare heart of courage and unshakable determination moved the heavenly gods to shed tears, and a great rain poured down upon the jungle, extinguishing the flames. And so it is that even the smallest actions of a determined spirit can change the world.

Doing Well By Doing Good

(William R. Brody)

Excerpted from a speech delivered by Mr. Brody to the graduating class of John Hopkins University on May 26, 2005.

There is a man who I'd like to tell you about. His name is Sandy Greenberg. In his youth, Sandy was a very good student, but he came from a poor family. And so he went to Columbia University on a scholarship and there he met his roommate who also was receiving financial aid.

Now while he was a sophomore at Columbia University, Sandy contracted an eye disease that eventually proved to be glaucoma. But the trouble was, it wasn't detected early enough, and as a result he became legally blind. I ask you all to imagine for a moment having been sighted all your life, and then all of a sudden being faced, in a very competitive school, with losing so much sight you could no longer read. This is what happened to Sandy Greenberg.

But something else happened to Sandy that may surprise you. Sandy said that when he lost his sight, his roommate would read his textbooks to him, every night.

So I'm going to put you in that position, in a competitive school like Columbia, or Johns Hopkins. If your roommate had a serious disability, would you take the time to read textbooks to him every night, knowing the more you spend time reading textbooks to your roommate, perhaps the less well you might do with your other activities? That's not as easy a question as it first appears.

But luckily for Sandy, his roommate did. And as a result, Sandy went on to graduate with honors. He got a Fulbright Scholarship, and he went off to study at Oxford. He was still quite poor, but he said he had managed to save about five hundred dollars as he went along.

His roommate, meanwhile, also went on to graduate school. One day, Sandy got a call from him at Oxford. And his former roommate said, "Sandy I'm really unhappy. I really don't like being in graduate school, and I don't want to do this."

So Sandy asked, "Well what do you want to do?"

And his roommate told him, "Sandy, I really love to sing. I have a high school friend who plays the guitar. And we would really like to try our hand in the music business. But we need to make a promo record, and in order to do that I need $500."

So Sandy Greenberg told me he took all his life savings and sent it to his roommate. He told me, "You know, what else could I do? He made my life; I needed to help make his life."

So, I hope you'll remember the power of doing well by doing good. Each of you, in your own lives, will be faced with challenges, with roadblocks, with problems that you didn't anticipate or expect. How you are able to deal with adversity will be influenced, to no small extent, by how you deal with others along the way. What you get will depend a lot on what you give. And that's the end of the story of doing well, by doing good.

Ah! I almost forgot. You probably are wanting to know who Sandy's roommate was. I think you've heard of him. Sandy's roommate was a fellow by the name of Art Garfunkel, and he teamed up with another musician by the name of Paul Simon. That $500 helped them cut a record that eventually became "The Sounds of Silence." Recently, we had the pleasure of going to Sandy's daughter's wedding, and it was Art Garfunkel who sang as Sandy walked his daughter down the aisle.

When you get to be my age (which, for some of you, is really old, (though it doesn't seem so old to me anymore), you will find yourself beginning to ask, did my life make a difference?

That's the day of personal reckoning. And I think the only way to face it is to consider, every day of your life: How can I do something for somebody else? How can I give back to others? It may be teaching, it may be becoming a doctor, you may be successful in business - no matter what your career path, there will always be the opportunity to give back. The chance will present itself to be giving of your time, giving of your money, but mostly, to be giving of yourselves, of your own heart and soul.

My hope today, as you commence to new beginnings, is you will always keep your eyes open for those opportunities to give and embrace them as your best sure way of doing well.

The Colors Of Friendship

(Adrian Iron Thunder)

Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel. All claimed that they were the best. The most important. The most useful. The most beautiful. The favorite.

Green said:
"Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and of hope. I was chosen for grass, trees and leaves. Without me, all animals would die. Look over the countryside and you will see that I am in the majority."

Blue interrupted:
"You only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea. It is the water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. The sky gives space and peace and serenity. Without my peace, you would all be nothing."

Yellow chuckled:
"You are all so serious. I bring laughter, gaiety, and warmth into the world. The sun is yellow, the moon is yellow, the stars are yellow. Every time you look at a sunflower, the whole world starts to smile. Without me there would be no fun."

Orange started next to blow her trumpet:
"I am the color of health and strength. I may be scarce, but I am precious for I serve the needs of human life. I carry the most important vitamins. Think of carrots, pumpkins, oranges, mangoes, and papayas. I don't hang around all the time, but when I fill the sky at sunrise or sunset, my beauty is so striking that no one gives another thought to any of you."

Red could stand it no longer he shouted out:
"I am the ruler of all of you. I am blood - life's blood! I am the color of danger and of bravery. I am willing to fight for a cause. I bring fire into the blood. Without me, the earth would be as empty as the moon. I am the color of passion and of love, the red rose, the poinsettia and the poppy."

Purple rose up to his full height:
He was very tall and spoke with great pomp: "I am the color of royalty and power. Kings, chiefs, and bishops have always chosen me for I am the sign of authority and wisdom. People do not question me! They listen and obey."

Finally Indigo spoke, much more quietly than all the others, but with just as much determination: "Think of me. I am the color of silence. You hardly notice me, but without me you all become superficial. I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep water. You need me for balance and contrast, for prayer and inner peace."

And so the colors went on boasting, each convinced of his or her own superiority. Their quarreling became louder and louder. Suddenly there was a startling flash of bright lightening, thunder rolled and boomed. Rain started to pour down relentlessly. The colors crouched down in fear, drawing close to one another for comfort.

In the midst of the clamor, rain began to speak:
"You foolish colors, fighting amongst yourselves, each trying to dominate the rest. Don't you know that you were each made for a special purpose, unique and different? Join hands with one another and come to me."

Doing as they were told, the colors united and joined
hands.

The rain continued:
"From now on, when it rains, each of you will stretch across the sky in a great bow of color as a reminder that you can all live in peace. The Rainbow is a sign of hope for tomorrow." And so, whenever a good rain washes the world, and a Rainbow appears in the sky, to let us remember to appreciate one another.

The Real Meaning Of Peace

Author Unknown

There once was a king who offered a prize to the artist
who would paint the best picture of peace. Many artists
tried. The king looked at all the pictures. But there
were only two he really liked, and he had to choose
between them.
One picture was of a calm lake. The lake was a
perfect mirror for peaceful towering mountains all around
it. Overhead was a blue sky with fluffy white clouds.
All who saw this picture thought that it was a perfect
picture of peace.

The other picture had mountains, too. But these were rugged
and bare. Above was an angry sky, from which rain fell and in which lightning played. Down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. This did not look peaceful at all.

But when the king looked closely, he saw behind the waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the bush a mother bird had built her nest. There, in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat the mother bird on her nest - in perfect peace.

Which picture do you think won the prize? The king chose the second picture. Do you know why?

"Because," explained the king, "peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. Peace means to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm in your heart. That is the real meaning of peace."

In normal situations, we think that we can survive life even without any help from God. We flow through the tide like a sail boat, floating along the waves of human situation. However, like a sail boat, we sometimes encounter heavy storms and tsunamis to test the strength of our faith in trivial times. To surpass this storm in life, we need intervention from God to spare us from the many odds or complications of life - when all the doors are shut before our eyes; no one seem to care for our sad flight and only God is the sole refuge in moments of dire needs. It is only through fervent prayer that we can take refuge to help us find an open door even though we barely can see the way. God will make a way when there seems to be no way; He makes His way - we cannot see. It seems that we are in perpetual desperation that everyone seems to be enemy to one another. Nothing can ever heal us until we utter the word to Jesus: Lord, have pity on us! Healing of the wounded world needs the divine power of God to destroy the bondage of corruption and callousness.
25 AMAZING CURE FOODS

BY David Zinczenko

1. BE MORE POSITIVE
Dark Chocolate
Research shows that dark chocolate can improve heart health, lower blood pressure, reduce LDL cholesterol, and increase the flow of blood to the brain. It also boosts serotonin and endorphin levels, which are associated with improved mood and greater concentration. Look for chocolate that is 60 percent cocoa or higher.

2. REDUCE ANXIETY
Garlic
Tuck a few extra cloves into your next stir-fry or pasta sauce: Research has found that enzymes in garlic can help increase the release of serotonin, a neurochemical that makes you feel relaxed.

3. FIRE UP YOUR MORNING METABOLISM
Caffeinated Coffee
A study published in the journal Physiology & Behavior found that the average metabolic rate of people who drank caffeinated coffee increased 16 percent over those who drank decaf. Caffeine stimulates your central nervous system by increasing your heart rate and breathing. (Want to know what else coffee is good for? Read 25 Best Nutr...

We now live in difficult times and we feel the anguish of hard life as we continue to journey in desperation. Many people are complaining and they cannot accept the fact that after all those years of labor and toil, we would still end up in this hopeless situation. For a long time, we have no memory of such an agonizing flight like this one. Our plea seems unheeded: in our distress, we are searching for the best remedy.

Increase our faith, Lord! Many people eventually avoid them for fear of being swindled or robbed. Due to the proliferation of homeless people in our society, we cannot distinguish the ones who are in dire need from those who like to take advantage of people’s generosity. Every time we see somebody begging for help; we become biased and opt not to help at all. We cannot tolerate people to live relying merely on charity. The steward profits from his works through commission which he sometimes raises for his own advantage. This is the reason why he is reported to the master for this dishonesty in profiteering. However, before the steward was fired, he decides to safeguard his future and tries to find ways to solve this problem, by forgiving off the debts of some tenants.( I presume the steward lessens his commission to earn him an honorable discharge). Often times, people have the courage to profess their faith by promising to follow the Lord in many ways. However, in actual life, we fail to fulfill our promises. Then, we say, it is really hard to follow the Lord or even do His will. Jesus’ demands make us uncomfortable because His requirements are often connected to our limitations and human attachments which we find hard to let go. We hardly can cope up with our own frailties and now we are called to follow the Lord’s commands. How can we forego our love for parents and loved ones?

Every human heart is easily attached to family, people, loved ones, places and things.
This inevitable OLD AGE

I've sure gotten old. I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes.

I am half-blind, can't hear anything than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to black outs.

Have bouts with dementia.

Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and feet anymore.

Can't remember if I am 85 or 92,
Have lost all my friends,

But, THANK GOD,
I still have my driver's license.

THE SENILITY PRAYER

Grant me the senility to forget the people
I never liked anyway.
The good fortune to run into the ones I do
and the eyesight to tell the difference.

Amen.

TALKING FROG
An eighty year old man was out fishing one day when he heard a voice. Knowing no one was around he just thought he was hearing things. Once again he heard psst- psst hey you. The man looked around and saw a frog in the water. The man said, are you talking to me? The frog said yea, pick me up. So the man picked the frog up. Now kiss me and I will turn into the most beautiful woman you have ever seen. The man proceeded to put the frog in his coat pocket. Pretty soon the man hears the frogs muffled voice again. He reaches into his pocket and retrieves the frog. Hey, didn't you hear me? I said kiss me and I will turn into the most beautiful woman you have ever seen! No thanks said the man, at my age I would rather have a talking frog.

More and more people believe that to earn more money can guarantee them lifetime happiness. Although the contrary is true, many people are also enslaved to substance abuse like drug and alcohol because they desperately seek for fulfillment in life. However, we have seen so many rich and famous celebrities who have lost their lives after attaining their sought after dreams. This observation will teach us the right way to happiness. No human success or material things can ever supply us with true happiness. Seek for inexhaustible treasure in heaven that no thief can reach nor moth destroy.

When we are in dire need, it is much easier for us to pray and become closer to God. Our reliance on God’s providence is our personal testimony, especially when we have no one to lean on, except ...

We can easily talk about material successes; what we have acquired and what we have accumulated in life. The more we have in life, the more successful we are considered to be. Happiness is measured accordingly as to how convenient we are in life. We all dream of becoming rich or winning an instant luck, like a lottery, in order to fulfill this lifetime aspiration. We always want to earn more and we want to gain more.

There is always family dispute over money and inheritance. Jesus warns His disciples about the futility of seeking refuge by amassing possessions. It can be the cause of all disagreements and rivalry among family members because one among the group wants to amass a lion’s share, disregarding the rest for his own advantage.
I need help -------------
An old man lived alone in Idaho. He wanted to spade his potato garden, but it was very hard work. His only son, Bubba, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament.

Dear Bubba:
I am feeling pretty bad because it looks like I won't be able to plant my potato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. If you were here, all my troubles would be over. I know you would dig the plot for me.

Love, Dad

A few days later, he received a letter from his son.

Dear Dad:
For heaven's sake, Dad, don't dig up that garden. That's where I buried the BODIES.
Love, Bubba

At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local Police showed up and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left.
That same day, the old man received another letter from his son.

Dear Dad:
Go ahead and plant the potatoes now. It's the best I could do under the circumstances.
Love, Bubba
